Dublin Community Support (DCS) is Dublin's first community safety charity providing boots on the ground services within communities in Dublin.
DCS provides community safety through a number of teams operating throughout communities day to day!
Food4All - Homeless food provisions.
Community Engagement - Community advisory and supply distribution.
River Watch - Water safety & Water rescue team focused on mental health related drownings.
Operational Support - Provides first aid and additional support to DCS teams as they face issues outside of their scope.
Dublin Community Support (DCS) was founded in December 2023, providing first operational services in Dublin in January 2024.
DCS began of one team comprised of five individuals from different volunteering backgrounds. Since our founding DCS has continued to grow to encompass more services, teams, volunteers, and communities.
December 2023 - DCS founded.
January 2024 - DCS becomes operational.
February 2024 - DCS members begin AED initiative following members witnessing a member of the community become unresponsive.
Mid February 2024 - DCS assists individuals sheltering at the 'International Protection Office' with staying warm as the winter comes to an end.
March 2024 - DCS ventures operations further into communities such as Ballymun, Finglas, & Santry
Mid March 2024 - A spike in overdoses sees DCS members take a drug informed approach to operations going forward.
March 17th - DCS operate day and night within the city, supporting the large crowds attending the parades and the nightlife.
March 23rd - DCS members take part in Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue's 'Walk the line' event in aid of the DWMRT.
March 30th - DCS purchases two AED devices to assist with life saving care when necessary.
April 2024 - DCS Cycle Team becomes operational supplying better access to larger equipment faster within communities.
April 14th - DCS rolls out body worn cameras to provided teams with an added layer of safety.
April 26th - DCS Cycle Team joins iBikeDublin within the city center as they bring attention to staying safe as a cyclist on Irish roads.
May 2024 - DCS River watch expands operational area to canals to support migrant communities sleeping rough.
May 11th - DCS takes part in Darkness into light hosted by Pieta House in aid of mental health and suicide prevention.
May 18th - DCS members provide vital first aid during a major incident within the city center.
May 27th - Linked Services initiative is set up, begining support to Mustard Seed Soup Run.
June 9th - Members are awarded for their actions during a major incident that occurred on May 18th.
June 21st - Linked Services initiative welcomes 'A Lending Hand'
June 28th - DCS members expand on their mental health first aid skills through continued training.
June 30th - DCS River Watch Members expand training to Swift Water Rescue.
July 21st - Drowning prevention week campaign.
July 24th - Anti Drink Spiking Awareness initiative is set up to educate on safe drinking practices.
August 2024 - Food4All service is founded begining services within the city center
August 31st - DCS assists the National Ambulance Service in Overdose Awareness through Naloxone and CPR demonstration held publicly.
September 14th - DCS River Watch team continue training with a course hosted by the RNLI.
September 29th - DCS becomes a registered charity!
October 29th - DCS hosts recruitment drive in Dublin City University.
November 22nd - Together FM hosts DCS volunteer Kian for a discussion on the issues within the city center.
November 26th - DCS host recruitment drive in TU Dublin.
November 28th - DCS Urgent AED appeal!
